I know, I know - Labor Day is relaxing, grilling out and spending time with family - and yes, you need to make time for those things. But... if you're as pressed for time as I am, sometimes you need those extra hours to catch up on things that may have gotten a bit untidy over the last few months.
Even though I'm an organizer, I'm still human. :) I still have a family and other commitments (I’m also obtaining an Interior Design degree) so I don’t always get to everything I want to on a routine basis. Currently, I’m working on my younger son’s bedroom. He’s taken full advantage of moving to a larger room and has not been as good about making decisions about what to keep and where to put things since he moved from a very small room. This weekend, we’ll be finishing up with re-organizing his room. We’ve already removed garbage and broken toys, and purged items he no longer uses or needs. Organizing also involves making decisions about what furniture should be in his room. Right now, he has a loft bed frame, which he doesn’t use. This was absolutely necessary in his tiny bedroom. Now, he sleeps on his mattress under the loft. Not the best use of space. We have the plans to build his new bed frame – which he has to help with. This new bed will have space for storage bins or other items underneath. His plan is to put all of his Nerf guns and K’nex-crafted weapons there, as those don’t store easily on a shelf or in a smaller bin that you might want sitting out in the room. I will be purchasing an under bed plastic storage bin that’s normally meant for clothing. This is an ideal size to store all of his longer weapons. I’ll be posting pictures when we finish so you can all see the before and after. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to find better uses for your space. That’s my weekend – how about you? Any plans involving “labor” for your Labor Day weekend? Let me know what interesting projects you may be working on that will simplify your life.
