Organized to Live a Life of Purpose

Purposeful Living
I have the privilege of speaking at an event next month that a large company holds for its employees annually. The topic I've prepared (and was asked to present) is about living a life of purpose. How does this relate to organizing? I believe it does in several ways.

First, we must identify what that purpose is - so that's figuring out what's important in our lives. My business is "More Than Organizing" because I want to do more than just come in and rearrange a room and get rid of stuff. I want to help you figure out what's truly important to you - whether it pertains to objects in your home, family time, or a career you love -
and help you design a life around that.

Second, we have to be able to focus on our purpose. How can we focus on something if our mind and our physical environment is cluttered with so many extraneous things? When we learn to declutter our thoughts (which I can help you do through coaching), we have more room to concentrate on how we can achieve our goals. Physical clutter also contributes to the inability to focus. Learning how to organize and maintain that organization will allow us to attain the purposeful life we want to live.

Finally, once we figure out our purpose and declutter our thoughts and physical space, we need to prioritize our time so we can focus on what we value. Sometimes, there are several things competing for our time and attention at once. I help clients organize (whether it's their work life or home life) what they value and find the best ways to prioritize their time when they have competing commitments.

People ask me sometimes why I left a nice job with a great income to be a professional organizer. I respond that it's not about helping someone declutter a room. It's about helping them live a life of meaning and achieve their purpose. It's about helping them to set goals and realize them - in their home, their finances or their work. This is why I do what I do.

I'd love to help you or your company, too. Are you ready to live your life of purpose?
